Sweet-16 January's focus is on Health. We've done Sleep. Now Water.
Water is said to be the essence of life.
We depend on it for survival!
Our bodies
depend on it too. About 60 percent of
the human body is made of water.
Every cell,
tissue and organ in our body needs it in order to function properly.
Drinking water can;
Aid in proper digestion
Boost our immune system
Lubricate joints
Regulate body temperature
Deliver oxygen through-out our
body
Send nutrients to our brain
Help maintain muscle tone
Aid in metabolizing fat
Help boost our immune system
Keeps kidney’s working
Promote healthy hair, nails and skin
Water keeps us hydrated.
It energizes us – dehydration can cause us to feel tired, have brain
fog, cause headaches, cause muscle cramps and spasms, stomach pain.
You can get water from food too!
“Eating” our
water hydrates us and it’s DELICIOUS!
Water-rich fruits and vegetables like cucumber, watermelon,
and strawberries contain minerals, salts, and natural sugars the body needs for
optimum hydration levels, so eating them can sometimes rehydrate us more
effectively (and a lot more tastily) than water alone.
High Water Content Fruits

grapefruit, cantaloupe, peaches, pineapple, cranberries, oranges, raspberries,

“Water is everywhere and in all living things; we cannot be
separated from water. No water, no life.
Water comes in many forms - liquid, vapor, ice, snow, fog, rain, hail.
But no matter the form, it's still water”.
-- Robert Fulghum
Water is essential to our physical
and mental well-being as well.
Soaking in a warm bath or shower may make us feel relaxed,
it can help relieve stress and help us sleep better.
When frozen, water helps provide relief from pain and
swelling. It can be effective therapy for sprains and strains. Cold packs can
reduce blood flow and swelling in an affected area and also treat pain.
In steam form, it can help relieve congestion. Inhaling steam from a humidifier or pot of
boiling water can help clear up congestion and loosen things up.
The sights and sounds of water have been found to have
therapeutic effects as well. It is also believed that spending time in/near water
is good for our mental health. Water
provides a tranquil setting that may help reduce stress and even depression.
Ever noticed how soothing the sounds of water are; rain, a
running stream, babbling brook, waves crashing in the ocean? Even watching waters movement can become
hypnotic and soothing.
“Water does not resist.
Water flows. When you plunge your hand into it, all you feel is a caress. Water
is not a solid wall, it will not stop you. But water always goes where it wants
to go, and nothing in the end can stand against it. Water is patient. Dripping
water wears away a stone. Remember that, my child. Remember you are half water.
If you can't go through an obstacle, go around it. Water does.”
